Before and After School Enrichment
Who we are.
The YMCA is the largest provider of school age programs in Indianapolis and surrounding communities. We respond to the needs of the community by providing parents a safe, fun, and nurturing environment for their children.
During the 2007-2008 school year, over 5,185 children were entrusted to our care every day. Not only that, but we exceeded state staff-to-child ratio standards. All staff are trained and certified in CPR, First Aid, and Child Abuse Prevention and receive approximately 106 hours of essential trainings during their first year of employment.
Curriculum
We base our curriculum on the YMCA's national character building campaign and incorporate the values of caring, responsibility, honesty, and respect as part of all youth services programming. We seek to support and strengthen the family unit, help children develop their fullest potential, and present programs and services in a positive environment.
Our program provides a resource-rich environment and introduces children to activities that build on what they learned during the school day. The staff follow curriculum guidelines provided by the YMCA of USA and pair this with the Indiana State Standards without duplicating the classroom. We utilize After School KidzLit, a literacy resource.
